is london-based, essex-born, capri-owning, cat-worshiping, singer-songwriter simon berridge and
anyone he can con into playing with him.
sometimes it’s solo acoustic, sometimes there’s a les paul involved.. people have likened his music to elvis costello,
the only ones, lloyd cole, bob mould, teenage fanclub, buffalo tom, world party, REM, american music club, robyn hitchcock
and kevin ayers. bromide has no idea so will take their word for it.
along the way he’s shared stages with vic chesnutt, mark eitzel, the fuzztones,
thee hypnotics, darren hayman, ant, erlend oye, suzanne rhatigan, simon fisher turner,
katy carr, the rocks, special needs, wet dog, nigel of bermondsey and spinmaster plantpot.
bromide is fond of lists. you might have noticed that. his mum was a librarian.
new album ‘some electric sometime’ was released july 2012.
produced by one time gay dad bass player nigel hoyle aka ‘nigel of bermondsey’, the album marks a return
to the studio for the first time since his 1997 debut ‘iscariot heart’ and features contributions
from fellow scratchy recorders alvine spetz aka ‘full english breakfast’
and ed spork as well as rising london chanteuse katy carr.
when bromide isn’t busy selling laboratory water testing services
or integrated CRM software for publishers he sometimes
puts on the odd scratchy gig - the next one will be friday 10th may 2013
at the dublin castle, 94 parkway, camden NW1 7AN

"An irresistible collection of lo-fi, acoustic guitar-driven pop” shout4music.com
"Releasing sporadic, well received, albums of home hewn wisdom the singer is now ready to return.. Simon Berridge's voice is as strong as ever, with the songwriter only gaining in sound and fury” clashmusic.com
“An album to cherish.. ‘Small Rewards’ has an infectious pop feel to it that radio stations the country over should playlist" amusicalpriority.co.uk
"Stadium indie rock infused with wonky poppiness and played with a lo-fi edge .. this album’s definitely a grower" whisperinandhollerin.com
